With the Waffle House being open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, there is no reason not to have breakfast (or lunch and dinner) no matter how your schedule shakes out. Breakfast is always on the menu, but then again so is lunch and dinner. The coffee was served in those wonderful thick mugs you see in old movies when the hero orders a “cup of joe.” Refills are free. My friend ordered a cup of decaf coffee, and I ordered a cup of regular. After seating ourselves and reading the menus already at the table, our server asked if we wanted anything to drink. There is nothing fancy about the Waffle House - it is simple diner decor (complete with signs above the cooking area) with decent diner-style food. A smaller (and lower) counter and several booths complete the furnishings. Near the griddles there are several round waffle makers, plates and other supplies ready for the next order. The Willoughby Waffle House is decorated in the style of a retro diner with a long counter and high-top chairs smack dab in the front of the exposed kitchen. However, we were warmly welcomed by the two men behind the counter. and were the only customers in the restaurant. So we headed over to the Waffle House on Vine Street in Willoughby.
